Figure of 8 Stopper Knot

The figure of 8 stopper knot is useful to stop ropes from disappearing into mast or to stop control line from coming out of enclosed cleats. Again it is easy to undue by pushing on the upper loop until the rope frees off.

Instructions for Tying a Figure of 8 Stopper Knot:-

Take your rope and as per a bowline create a loop by bringing the bottom of the rope over the top

Next create a second loop by bringing the free end round the back of the top rope.

Now take the free end and bring it firstly down the top loop and then up through the bottom loop.

Finally pull the two ends to tighten the knot.
